About Brooke

Brooke is currently an Instruction Librarian at Adams State College. ASC is a public college in the very small town of Alamosa in south central Colorado. Brooke is one of a handful of people in the U.S. who actually love their jobs. Brooke coordinates instruction, teaches information literacy skills, and works on the reference desk in Nielsen Library.

Brooke lives in a very old but charming house in Monte Vista with her husband Matthew, twins Dylan and Bella, baby girl Lucia, and dogs Harriet and Simon. Brooke's husband is an auditor at Wall, Smith, Bateman and Associates working on his CPA licensure.

A Brief History

Before moving to Colorado, Brooke grew up in Raleigh, NC and attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Classics (Latin and Greek) and English Literature in three years. A particularly wonderful English professor encouraged Brooke to go to school for her M.L.S. Luckily, Brooke was admitted to the School of Information and Library Science at UNC Chapel Hill. After a field experience in the Undergraduate Library, Brooke realized that she really wanted to teach information literacy skills to undergraduates.
